(This is a reply I posted on the thread about a possible meeting tonight. Not sure how many people are actually following the thread, so wanted to cross-post here because there are some larger issues I wanted to address and hopefully get some feedback. Sorry if the duplication bothers anyone!)

I've been sort of thinking that it might be more effective to just hold
one meeting a month. Since we decided to stop holding meetings at Avi's
house, it's been a struggle to find an acceptable location for our
Friday meetings, usually down to the last minute. In my opinion, if
we're going to have a meeting, the location should be determined and the
meeting set before the actual day of. For me personally, I like to
make plans in advance and not knowing whether or not a meeting is going
to be held and wondering all day long can be a little stressful. I'm
not placing blame on any one of us, as no one has any real set
responsibilities--I just think we would be more successful as a group if
we had some more solid planning taking place. I've been a little bummed
by the fact that people seem to be losing interest in the group and I
think that might be in part due to our lack of organization. I'm just
throwing the idea out there to have one definitely-going-to-happen
meeting a month where we can take the time to plan structured activities
and hopefully get something accomplished. And then additional
supplementary and more spontaneous meetings can be planned as needed for
activities, to get specific things done, or to socialize. I don't know
if Lorae is still down for having meetings at their spot on the first
Sunday of each month, but having one pre-determined location seems like a
good place to start off and I would personally like to continue having
Sunday meetings there if that works for our wonderful host and everyone
in the group. I'm only speaking for myself, obviously, and hope that
others will voice their opinions too. I don't want the meetings to just
stop happening, and I think we need to re-evaluate how we can be more
successful.

Hey everyone! I'm glad this is a post because I have felt a little put off by how last minute and disorganized everything has been. I definitely am still interested in PWBA, but just sort of stopped going because I didn't really feel like we were moving forward at the meetings (along with getting really busy with school and stuff). Now that school is over, I really want to start going again, and I think that having meetings only once a month is a really great idea. I think it would kind of push us to be more focused and productive during our meetings instead of just being like "let's just worry about that it in two weeks".

I also think finding a more consistent meeting place (unless Lorae is still okay with offering their place once a month) and knowing earlier than a day (or a few hours) in advanced would be helpful too. That being said, I'm sorry I fell off the face of the PWBA earth and haven't been going to meetings, but I do want to start going again!

Yeah...I know we originally had two meetings because not everyone could do Sunday...but ideally we'd have "unofficial" meetings, and meetings to plan specific things, at different times.

Has anyone talked to Lorae about meeting at their house for June 3rd? I can e-mail them...

I agree! I would really like to pick this back up again and think that it would be helpful to arrange smaller unofficial meetings more often than our regular ones. It seems like a lot of people have scheduling conflicts and it's difficult to get everyone in one place at a time. Maybe we could also not only to either Friday or Sunday meetings but have people provide their schedules for the next week or two in advance if they know when they have work etc and we could arrange for something to happen another day?

did i get here too late? i'm pumped to find this exists but is it over already? are meetings still happening?

edit: it seems like the trouble is finding a time where people could meet, but if a meeting location is also a problem i may be able to host!

Nope, it's not over! We have our first event (a bake sale) coming up on July 14th (check the events forum for that). Info on the next meeting should be posted in the "regular meetings" forum, but if you want to be sure to get the info, you'll want to join the Google group. permwavebay is the name of it. I believe you'll find it if you go to Google Groups and search for the name? I'm afraid I don't understand all of it since they changed the format. No
