Meeting 3/4/12, 8pm, probably Lorae's

Topic: workshop on privilege & oppression, setting ground rules for the group, finishing the zine
Location: Lorae's place is much more accommodating to our group's growing size (yay growing!) but we need to make sure everyone can get there. Options are biking (click this for a low-traffic route from 16th St. Bart), driving (lots of parking), or taking the K/T muni light rail. It is NOT Bart accessible. Their building is at the corner of 3rd St & Marin St in Bayview if you want to check Google Maps for yourself.

I can lead a riding group there if anyone would like - we would leave a decided-upon place in the Mission at 7:30 and go together. Does this sound good?

Major update: I've just learned that From The Back Of The Room (trailer), a documentary covering the last 30 years of feminist DIY punk, is being screened at Lost Weekend Video, which is down the street from Avi's...and it's the same night as our meeting! This might be a great opportunity to let people know about Permanent Wave, plus I'd love to see the film. It starts at 9pm and costs $5. How does everyone feel about going to this? It would basically be our whole meeting, and I know we want to do the zine.

PS - maybe we can get a money pool together and everyone can pay what they can afford - those who have more could put in up to $10 so that those who need to pay less can still go?

I think this sounds great!! I really wanted to see this movie when it was screened a few months ago, but i couldn't attend. I'm excited

yeah! i meant to go see this last time it screened here in the city a couple months back but missed it so I would be super down to do this instead of having a formal meeting that night!!!

OMG I super messed up, I'm so sorry! The film is actually being screened on 2/16, which is a Thursday! I won't be able to come (I have work) but I can't wait to hear how it is. Maybe those who go can share some info about PWBA with other attendees.

We can have the meetings at my place if you guys would like. There's a lot of space but it is a little out of the way. It's easy to ride here tho and the light rail stops directly in front of my house. There is also plenty of parking. I live at Third and Cesar Chavez.

1. So, I DEFINITELY want to still go to the screening. I hope some of the rest of you do too, so I don't have to go alone!

2. In regards to KevinMcAllister'ss generous offer to have meetings at their house-I think it might be more appealing for people who live farther out to come to meetings if there is reliable parking available.

I should be able to make it to the screening on the 16th. If anyone's concerned about being able to pay for it, I can probably spot a person or two, just message me here or wherever.

If the light rail stops right in front of KevinMcAllister's (Lorae's?) place, I don't think getting there should be too tough for folks from the East Bay, but we'll see. It sounds like it might be a better location that Avi's, especially if parking is easier for folks.

It sounded like the four people planning the next meeting wanted to wait until 3/4 to be better-prepared, and several other people agreed. Plus there was my whole mixup with the screening. However, it's not a bad idea to devote an entire meeting to finishing the zine, either. I do like the idea of having the every-other-week meetings, too. I tried to get a consensus on this elsewhere but it seemed no one saw it. Do we want to go forward with the 2/17 meeting?

Oh, I didn't notice the other thread. Thanks for the clarification. Personally, I'd be ok with waiting if that means a more organized agenda. Sounds like they have a great vision they want to execute for the next meeting. Plus it would give me more time to make my zine page (such a procrastinator!). Also, for those of us planning to attend the screening on Thur, it might be nice to have the Friday free, possibly. Overall I'm down for whatever the majority decides. Just want to make sure I know what's up!

I'd like to have some sort of meeting on the 17th if there's enough interest. I have an update from The Shondes about a possible benefit show and I'd like to get some discussion going on that if we can. Also, I slacked on finishing my zine page a little bit so a meeting means I'll probably finish it.

There's so much going on this week for me but I'll definitely be going to the screening on Thursday and I plan to at least come by for the beginning of the meeting on Friday, drop off my zine page and hear about the possible benefit show , but then I may be leaving early to attend something else I already committed to attending, just for a heads up. But yeah, see all you soon in a few days!!

Yes! I can do it friday. Where? I vote meeting each other week and without alcool.

I probably can't make it this Friday ( ) but Zoe, you have my zine page (it's done).

I might have to do the same thing on Friday (stay for a little while, drop off my drawing and then head off). See those of you that are going at the film screening tomorrow night!

A few thoughts on this whether to hold a meeting tomorrow business:

It sounds like it would have to be at Avi's house again for this one, according to Lorae's post above.

I think a lot of people will be confused about whether it is happening or not bc the title of this thread says next meeting is 3/4.

Additionally, it sounds like a few people won't be able to attend.

We won't be getting zine pages from most of the people who didn't know we were holding a meeting or the people who couldn't make it.

I think an old-fashioned email should be sent out as soon as an official decision is made to avoid further confusion.

I think next time around we should just take a poll and come to a decision immediately, because I've been following the thread and still am not sure whether there is going to be a meeting or not tomorrow.

In any case, looking forward to the screening tonight!

i'm still confused on what time and where the meeting is tomorrow? i thought meetings were going to be held on sundays, but char told me tonight that we were finishing the zine tomorrow? what's the deal!

Little bit confused! I agree to have a maling list to receive a official message after décisions. Blog is nice to shared many things but it's no efficient to precise activities... what do you think?

Finally, I got a big reaction from poison oak this week and it's very uncomfortable to do activities with Benadryl effects and so many rash on me! I have to postpone the idea to bike with you and probably go sleep very early tonight. Sorry! I will see you soon OH by the way what's the trick with trumblr to sign in ?

Sorry for the short notice, everyone! I'm officially calling off the meeting tonight. Avi won't be around so please hang onto zine pages and bring them to the meeting on March 4th. I had something to discuss, but it's not urgent so I'll make a thread for it.

Hey all, I'm excited for the meeting! I had an idea about something fun we could do:

Would any/all of you like to have the meeting on my awesome roof-farm around a campfire? It would be dark, but I think the fun would be well-worth lugging some flashlights up. After all...it IS girlscout season.

Kevin, how big is the space? Me, Mars, Charlotte, and Nic may have an activity planned for next meeting that would require some space, whether on your roof or in someone's backyard maybe? Nearby park? We would need everyone to line up and move back/forward. And is the meeting at Kevin's house or at Lorae's?

There is space inside and on the roof. There would actually be a larger area up there for activities and there is a railing all the way around so nobody is in danger of falling.

yeah! now that it's sunday, i realized i don't even know the exact address of Lorae's or what time we're gonna start at? 7pm or 8pm? lorae is you wanna text me it here's my number - 858.740.4070 it'd probably be helpful to have each other's numbers for tonight as i'll be with mars, lindsey and nic already!
